KEN HENSON

With an M.F.A. in Painting and Drawing from The University of Cincinnati, Ken Henson has won numerous awards and honors for his paintings, including The Chautauqua Institution Award in the 46th National Exhibition of American Art at The Chautauqua Center for the Visual Arts, Chautauqua, NY. In 2004, Ken was a finalist in the 4th Annual Miami University Young Painters Competition for the William and Dorothy Yeck Award.

As a freelance illustrator, Ken's paintings have appeared on book covers for several publishers, including Prentice Hall, Macmillan, Longman, and Waveland Press.

As a creator of comics, Ken's works have been published by Fanatic Press, Young American Comics, The Frameworks Anthology, and Alternacomics in America, and Community Comics, and Paper Tiger Comix in the U.K. Ken has also conducted dozens of cartooning workshops for public libraries and art museums, and wrote an article about these experiences that was published in the peer-reviewed Journal for the Liberal Arts & Sciences.

Ken currently teaches at The Art Academy of Cincinnati and works on graphic novels. He is the author/illustrator of Splendid-Lite.
